Ryan Smith

  • Senior Architect

Ryan received Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he studied Architecture and Philosophy. He has over 15 years of experience working on commercial and residential projects from design through construction, with a focus on adaptive reuse and historic renovation. The integration of BIM within the architectural design process is critical to Ryan’s methodology, and he sees every architectural problem as an opportunity to improve health, beauty, and happiness in the spaces we all inhabit.

Ryan lives in Durham, North Carolina and is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), as well as the National Council of Architecture Registration Boards (NCARB). He is active in the local design community and is involved with community education efforts through both the AIA and his neighborhood association. Ryan loves to travel and draws much of his inspiration for architecture and design through visiting new cities and places. Outside of the office Ryan enjoys playing guitar, playing games, bicycling, spending time outdoors, reading fantasy or sci-fi novels, cooking with friends, or spending time with his pet cat.
